“Truly the Community Resource Center Saves Lives”

Every Wednesday, the Community Resource Center becomes a place of possibility for individuals and families facing housing instability. For Josh Brubaker-Salcedo, Housing Program Manager with True North, those Wednesdays are spent meeting face-to-face with people who need clear guidance, honest answers, and hope during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Throughout the day, Josh sits down with an average of 15 to 25 people, helping them navigate a complex housing system that can feel overwhelming, especially for those experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of losing their housing. From identifying realistic housing options based on income, to walking through applications, to connecting people with grants and financial assistance, Josh provides practical support designed to move people forward. Just as importantly, he helps prevent homelessness before it happens, ensuring people don’t fall further into crisis.

What sets Josh’s work apart is his approach. He meets people without judgment and speaks plainly, often saying, “Here’s what I would do if I were in your shoes.” For many who come to the Community Resource Center, that guidance is the first time someone has slowed down, listened, and helped make sense of a confusing process. Josh reminds people that while housing may not happen overnight, it is never impossible, and that steady effort can lead to real change.

For Josh, success often looks quiet. When someone stops coming back week after week, it usually means they’ve been housed and are moving forward. The Community Resource Center allows him to meet people where they already are, making it easier to connect support with need.
