Muskegon Rescue Mission, Muskegon MI, Muskegon County, Deb Wise, Guest Stories, MRM TestimonialWhen Deb arrived at Muskegon Rescue Mission on September 8, she was stepping into one of the hardest seasons of her life. What she didn’t yet know was how much God would teach her — and how deeply He would meet her — during the weeks that followed.

During her time in the shelter, Deb committed herself wholeheartedly to rebuilding. Every day, she worked to secure her own apartment, apply for part-time jobs, and grow in her relationship with Christ. The biggest thing the Lord taught her while she was here was “patience.” It was something she had struggled with her entire life, but at the Mission, she began to experience it in a new, transformational way.

Each morning, Deb rose early to spend quiet time in prayer. She prayed for herself, the other guests, her family and friends, lifting up every need she carried and entrusting it to God. These rhythms of prayer became an anchor for her.

But something happened that she didn’t expect: she found deep friendship and community. The connections she made with other guests and with staff at the Community Resource Center gave her encouragement on the days she needed it most. She especially cherished meeting with the Chaplain twice a week to pray, read Scripture, and seek the Lord together.

Over and over, Deb watched God answer her prayers. She found a part-time job. She was approved for a clean, affordable apartment, one that even allowed her beloved dog, Prince, to live with her. Everything came together in God’s perfect timing. On November 12, Deb moved into her new home with a renewed heart and stronger faith.

Because of caring partners like you, Deb found hope, stability, and a fresh start.
