An Important Leadership Update from Muskegon Rescue Mission

Dear Friends,

The Board of Directors would like to share an important update about the future leadership of Muskegon Rescue Mission.

After 16 years of serving the Mission—and the last eight years as Executive Director—Dan Skoglund has shared his plans to step away from executive leadership and begin a transition toward retirement.

As we look ahead, we also want to pause and celebrate what God has accomplished through Dan’s years of service. During his time at the Mission, we have experienced meaningful growth, strengthened our ministry, and expanded our ability to serve our community. More importantly, many individuals and families have found hope and stability during his years of leadership.

Dan’s leadership has helped shape a culture rooted in faith, compassion, and a commitment to serving those in need. We are grateful for the steady leadership he has provided and the strong foundation he leaves for the future.

This transition will happen gradually and intentionally. Dan will continue serving as Executive Director while the Board conducts a national search for the Mission’s next President. Once a new President is hired, Dan will move into the role of President Emeritus and remain with the Mission to ensure a smooth transition.

We know many of you have worked alongside Dan as donors, volunteers, church partners, community leaders, and friends of the Mission. We invite you to join us in thanking him for his faithful service and praying for God’s guidance as we begin this next chapter.

The future of Muskegon Rescue Mission is bright. We are confident that the same God who has faithfully led this ministry for generations will continue to provide wisdom, direction, and leadership in the years ahead.

With gratitude,

Roger Doctor
Chair, Board of Directors
