This year, the impact of homelessness and hunger has been severe. Rising costs of essentials like food, gas and rent have pushed many families into poverty. Within our community, the demand for assistance at Muskegon Rescue Mission skyrocketed in 2023; shelter nights surged by 75.5%, and meals provided soared by 98.63% compared to 2021. This alarming increase is unprecedented.
